Property Trust (Victoria) and Property Trust (Tasmania)

There are five (5) vacancies on the Property Trust(s).

The Uniting Church in Australia Property Trust (Victoria) (the Trust) is a statutory corporation established by The Uniting Church in Australia Act 1977 of the Parliament of Victoria (the Act).

The Uniting Church in Australia Property Trust (Tas.) (the Trust) is a statutory corporation established by The Uniting Church in Australia Act 1977 of the Parliament of Tasmania (the Act).

Membership of the Property Trusts is prescribed by the provisions of the Acts. Each of the five appointees sits on both Trusts.

Church property in Victoria and Tasmania is vested in the Trusts. The Trusts meet monthly to consider a broad range of issues that involve the management of, and legal responsibility for, Victorian and Tasmanian Church property, trusts, and bequests. Short weekly meetings, on a rota amongst the members, are held in the Synod’s Melbourne office to process and authorise the formal affixing of the Trusts’ Common Seals on all approved and related documentation. Some monthly and weekly meetings are now held by Zoom Conferencing.

This year, there are five (5) positions to be appointed by the Synod for a term until the next ordinary Synod meeting.
